- Plan 2 (Coursework & Research-based) – Total of 36 credits
The program is designed to be completed within 2 years, with a maximum study period of 5 academic years for full-time students, excluding any approved leave of absence.
Tuition Fees
The total tuition fee for the program is 80,000 THB (40,000 THB per academic year).
Admission Requirements
Plan 1 (Research-based)
- Applicants must meet the admission criteria set by Chiang Mai University for each academic year.
- Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biochemistry and Innovative Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Medical Technology, Biotechnology, Food Technology, Industrial Agricultural Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Agricultural Science, Agricultural Technology, Food Science, or other related fields. a. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00. If the cumulative GPA is below 3.00, the applicant must provide a recommendation letter from a supervisor, department head, or academic advisor from the institution where they graduated. This letter must confirm that the applicant has sufficient knowledge, skills, and potential to successfully conduct a thesis
- Must meet the foreign language proficiency requirements as announced by the Graduate School.
- Additional qualifications include: Strong foundation in undergraduate coursework and proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing English, Evaluation based on graduate user feedback, interview performance, and required application documents, Ability to plan and conduct experiments efficiently using scientific principles, Proficiency in statistical analysis and computer software for data processing, Capability to research, develop, and integrate knowledge for innovation and research advancement, Strong problem-solving skills, adherence to scientific ethics, and commitment to being a responsible global citizen
- All other qualifications are subject to the discretion of the Graduate Program Committee in Biotechnology.
Plan 2 (Research-based)

Plan 1.1 (Master’s Level Entry): 150,000 THB for the entire program (50,000 THB per academic year).
Plan 1.2 (Bachelor’s Level Entry): 200,000 THB for the entire program (50,000 THB per academic year).

- Must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent.

- All other qualifications are subject to the discretion of the Graduate Program Committee in Biotechnology and must comply with the Chiang Mai University Graduate Studies Regulations (2023).
Plan 1.2 (Bachelor’s Level Entry)
- Must meet the admission criteria set by Chiang Mai University for each academic year.
- Must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with: Outstanding academic performance (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 out of 4.00), Applicants with a GPA lower than 3.50 may be considered for admission under specific conditions set by the program.
- Must meet the foreign language proficiency requirements as announced by the Graduate School.
- All other qualifications are subject to the discretion of the Graduate Program Committee in Biotechnology and must comply with the Chiang Mai University Graduate Studies Regulations (2023).
