MIdS CMU Organizes “Heet Hoy Lanna: Learning the Shared Local Way,” Offering Students a Creative Journey into Lanna Culture

On August 23, 2026, Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School, Chiang Mai University (MIdS CMU) organized the activity “Heet Hoy Lanna: Learning the Shared Local Way” for MIdS CMU students. Led by Dr. Pornsuda Insan, Assistant Dean of MIdS CMU, the students participated in an immersive learning experience at the Wat Pa Tan Wisdom Learning Center.

The activity offered a variety of hands-on experiences that allowed students to explore the rich cultural heritage and local wisdom of Lanna. Activities included making Khao Taen (Lanna rice crackers), creating Tung Yai Maeng Mum (spider-web flags), crafting flower cones, printing flower and leaf patterns on eco-friendly cloth bags, enjoying an herbal foot soak, and sharing a traditional Lanna Khantoke meal. The students also visited the Ban Chang Nak Museum.

The activity aimed to provide MIdS CMU students with an opportunity to learn about Lanna arts, culture, and ways of life through hands-on experiences, encompassing traditional crafts, local cuisine, herbal wisdom, arts and culture, and community lifestyles.

In addition, the program promoted cross-cultural learning, relationship building among students, and an appreciation of the value of Lanna identity, encouraging students to engage with local cultural heritage in a creative and sustainable manner.
