MIdS CMU Organizes Academic Seminar: Academy Challenge – Inspiring Learning, Driving Sustainability
Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School (MIdS), Chiang Mai University, organized an academic seminar titled “Academy Challenge: Inspiring Learning, Driving Sustainability” for MIdS graduate students. The seminar was opened by Associate Professor Dr. Apichat Sopadang, Dean of MIdS CMU, who delivered welcoming remarks, greeted the students, and introduced the School.
The main objective of this activity was to develop Future Skills for students through hands-on and participatory activities, while also enhancing their knowledge and understanding of climate change issues and approaches to addressing them at both social and individual levels. The seminar also encouraged students to take part in designing solutions through workshops, and aimed to strengthen collaboration, relationships, and a positive learning environment among participants. The event was held during August 26–27, 2025, at Horizon Village & Resort and Tweechol Botanical Garden, Doi Saket District, Chiang Mai.
The seminar included a variety of activities:
Day 1:
Ice-breaking activities to foster connections
Field trip: “Guided Tour of the Rare Plant Center”
Student group activities focusing on cooperative and teamwork skills through a field workshop and effective presentations, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornsuda Insan, Assistant Dean of MIdS CMU
Workshop on Green Skills: Climate Change by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phothi Chaopaisan, Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering
Creative and relationship-building activities under MIdS initiative
Day 2:
Workshop on AI Skills: AI for Research/Education by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekkarat Boonchieng, Associate Dean of MIdS CMU
