The Contemporary Chinese Language Teaching Program, MIdS CMU, in collaboration with the Chinese Language Program, Department of Oriental Languages, Faculty of Humanities, organized the event “Innovations in Contemporary Chinese Language Teaching.”
On Wednesday, 17 December 2025, Contemporary Chinese Language Teaching Program, Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School (MIdS), Chiang Mai University, together with Chinese Language Program, Department of Oriental Languages, Faculty of Humanities, hosted the Contemporary Chinese Language Teaching Innovation Project.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Assistant Professor Dr. Korawan Phromyaem, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, while Assistant Professor Dr. Jirapipat Thanyapongphat, Chair of the Graduate Program Committee in Contemporary Chinese Language Teaching, MIdS CMU, delivered the welcome remarks.
Participants included school administrators from basic education institutions, Chinese language teachers, students, graduate students, administrators, and faculty members from Faculty of Humanities and Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School, Chiang Mai University. The event took place at Buildings 2 and 3, MIdS CMU.
The program featured special lectures on “Tools and Technologies for Chinese Language Teaching and Learning,” presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Jirapipat Thanyapongphat, and “Innovations in Chinese Language Teaching in the Era of Globalization,” delivered by Dr. Wasin Sataphornworrrachit, a lecturer from the Faculty of Humanities, Chiang Mai University.
In addition, participants enjoyed four Chinese cultural activity stations organized by the Chinese Language Program, Faculty of Humanities, and five innovative teaching showcase stations presented by students of Contemporary Chinese Language Teaching Program, MIdS CMU. Students were able to participate in activities based on their interests.
The objectives of the project were to encourage master’s degree students to develop and present innovative Chinese language teaching approaches that integrate technology and contemporary pedagogy within the context of globalization; to create diverse and creative Chinese language learning experiences for secondary school students; and to strengthen academic collaboration among the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Education, and the College of Art, Media and Technology in developing contemporary Chinese language teaching innovations. The project also aims to integrate knowledge of language, pedagogy, and technology for the greatest benefit to society.
